Throughout my career, my interest in cultural diversity has driven the subject matter of my Artwork. My work explores traditions and accesses history while commenting on the contemporary landscape. By being strongly grounded in my cultural structures, I enjoy the personal growth that is achieved through the exploration of things beyond. Through the expression of history and exploration, I can create something new.
When I work, I anticipate a general outcome of each painting while allowing the effects of collage to guide me through a series of multi layered discoveries. Layer upon layer of patters, textures, and paper cutting enables the material to speak.
Through time, my signature work has come to be synonymous with my love for cultural artifacts. By bringing together a collage of intricate Asian materials, I transform a historical archetype into majestically lyrical Artwork. Seen from a distance, the work takes on the air of homogenization, a closer inspection reveals distinctive qualities of cultural histories. While the work is attractive in general, it lets the viewer make visual discoveries.
